New Surprise Ball Design!!

So I was thinking about what to do with a very cute angel pose doll head pick that I bought several weeks ago.  My good friend Linda (feltedfolksies) suggested a really adorable felt angel body that looked easy enough.   Then I thought,  how can I make this something that I can carry in my shop and be so unique and awesome that I won't want to part with it??

The answer?   A surprise ball formed in the shape of an angel doll!!!!  As you can see in the picture,  I have formed arms and a skirt for the head pick,  and inside the cones are trinkets, treasures and prizes!!!!   So you have a beautiful kitschy angel doll to display any time of the year ( I am really stuck onthe blue/pink crepe theme right now) and when you can't take it anymore, you can rip into that bad boy and discover your treasures o'plenty!!!   I really want to make more of these for the shop if I can find some reasonably priced angel heads.    I almost don't want to part with this one, but I already know what's inside :)      I LOVE making surprise ball favors and treasures candles and such, as most of you know, so I am THRILLED to present this new design.   I am thinking of posting a tutorial for this, but if would be for PERSONAL USE ONLY.  Would you all like to see a tutorial for this??  Let me know.

Christmas Is Coming!!

Ok, So not even close.   I would like to announce that I have put up my second Christmas tree today.  Oh yes,  my first one has been up for a week.    It's not even the halfway mark of November.   But you are lucky I didn't start in August.   This year, my goal is to have three trees:   1st being the one that the gifts go under,  with all the heirloom ornaments and vintage shiny brites and things.   The big kahuna, if you will.   The second one,  as seen in the picture,   was quite by accident.   I was shopping the goodwill for deals on christmas goodies,   and came across this huge box of plaid ornaments.  Upon closer inspection,  Every one of them had a 1960's made in japan sticker on it.   I couldn't pass it up.   They are adorable ornaments and this from a gal that doesn't really like plaid!!   This tree is in the far corner of my living room.   The big kahuna tree is in our dining room area.  The third tree I'm even more excited about as it will be either white or pink, with candy ornaments, cupcakes, cotton candy, hello kitty, etc.  All things girly and wonderful.   That will go in my craft room.   How many christmas trees do you have?

Some new handmade goodies added to shop! Have you ever heard of a surprise ball?? Well, they are one of my very favorite things to make and give and receive. They originated in the the 1950's. Basically they are made of crepe paper streamers, that are wound in a ball shape around trinkets and toys and things and then decorated. The recipient starts unwinding the ball, and as they do, the gifts fall out one by one! It is very fun!! Anyway, I have created some "vintage valentine surprise balls" as well as handmade plush elephant and owl. Enjoy the photos!

I almost forgot! I made a batch of candy striped treasure candles today and am listing a few in my shop! They contain vintage baubles and charms and shells and jewels!! Perfect for christmas gifts!!! Most treasure candles I've seen shaped in stars or pyramids or more new age shapes. This is a simple, shabby chic, candy striped glass container candle that fits in with most decor. Scented with vanilla apple scent. YUM!!
